Moe, Nachbaur and Paddock wrap up WHL careers
The strangest season in Prince Albert Raiders history concluded on Wednesday night with one of the most bizarre contests the team has ever taken part in.
With the team holding a 5-3 lead over the Swift Current Broncos at the 8:01 mark of the third period, Raiders netminder Max Paddock was given a snow shower by Broncos forward Josh Davies and proceeded to pummel him in the face as both players were down in the crease during a post-whistle scrum.
As a result of the play, Davies was given a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, but Paddock was given a five-minute match penalty and a game misconduct for what the officials deemed as an attempt to injure.
Broncos conclude season with overtime loss

The Swift Current Broncos concluded the 2020-21 Western Hockey League regular season with points in their final three games after a 6-5 overtime loss to the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday in Regina.
The Broncos erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to force overtime before Ozzy Weisblatt scored on a partial breakaway to end the East Division season.
“I thought early we were just a little bit too cute with the puck,” said Head Coach Dean Brockman. “We passed up on opportunities to shoot the puck and create a little bit more offense. We got ourselves into a little bit of penalty trouble. It seemed when we almost had it killed off they’d get a little bounce or a break here and there. I give our guys a lot of credit, I thought they showed some resiliency coming from behind and playing hard. A lot of teams or guys would have said the hell with it. Each man that played tonight I thought played as hard as he
Max Paddock’s career also ended on Wednesday night, but in a much more unusual way. Paddock was ejected after receiving a match penalty for striking Bronco forward Josh Davies with his blocker after Davies gave Paddock a snow shower and ran into the Raider goaltender in the third period.
But instead of sulking about it in the showers, Paddock nervously watched from the tunnel in the hopes that the group of guys he became so close with since last year’s trade deadline could pull off the victory.
“They’re my brothers out there. Unfortunately, I took a penalty that got me out of the game, but I wanted to be there to support them. We spend every single hour of the day together for the past two months, you’ve been playing video games we’re always hanging out. They’ve grown to be my brothers in that dressing room, so I just wanted to be there for them and support them any way I could. Fortunately, they pulled it off.”

The Swift Current Broncos fired 44 shots on goal but were unable to defeat the Winnipeg Ice for a second time this season in a 5-4 loss of Friday.
The Broncos opened the scoring midway through the first period when Cohner Saleski fired a puck past a stumbling Daniel Hauser for his second goal of the season. Owen Pederson and Connor McClennon replied for the Ice to put them ahead 2-1 after one period.
The teams traded goals in the second period, beginning with a Michael Milne goal to put the Ice up 3-1. Carter Stebbings replied for the Broncos when he found some room in the slot and fired home his third goal of the season.
