The Ste. Genevieve High School baseball team accomplished something not too many others have this season against state-ranked Valle Catholic.
The Warriors were extended the full seven-inning game, and Valle Catholic blanked Ste. Genevieve 7-0 at Yanks Field.
This “Old Settlement Showdown” game was originally scheduled for Alumni Field in Valle Springs; however, field conditions prompted the move to Yanks. The Warriors were the officially the “home” team.
“Ste. Genevieve is a quality baseball team, and they made some outstanding defensive plays in our game,” Valle Catholic head coach Nathan Gegg said. “They made plays when they needed to, and made big pitches in big spots. They made us work for all seven innings.”

The Valle Catholic High School baseball program honored its four seniors this past Thursday night at Alumni Field.
The Warriors first blanked Bismarck, 9-0, in a Mineral Area Activities Conference Small School Division game.
Then seniors Austin Burnett, Jayden Gegg, Drew Bauman and Carter Hoog were honored with their parents, receiving a gift bag along with other verbal accolades. Senior manager Riley Siebert also was recognized.
What’s more, Burnett smacked a two-run home run to help the Warrior offense.
Valle Catholic head baseball coach Nathan Gegg heaped praise on all four seniors with comments.

Both Valle Catholic High School boys’ basketball player Carter Hoog and Ste. Genevieve girls’ hoopster Sydney Bumgardaner received more accolades recently.
The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association named Carter Hoog to the all-state boys’ squad in Class 2.
“It’s much deserved, in my opinion,” Valle Catholic head coach Tyler Search said. “He has worked hard to improve over the last few years, and it’s great to see it pay off for him.”
Hoog, now the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer, was part of an elite group of players, which also included Crystal City’s Donovan Tullock. Hoog and Tullock put on a show at Valle Catholic during the Class 2 playoffs.
