Will the sport of pickleball finally be coming to El Cajon?
Local septuagenarian Mike Wolpert hopes so. Wolpert, an El Cajon resident since 1975, has been playing pickleball for almost 10 years. The 78-year-old was introduced to the sport in 2012 at a motorhome resort in Indio that has permanent pickleball courts.
El Cajon does not have any permanent pickleball courts right now, but Director of Park and Recreation Frank Carson said that could soon change.
He is hoping to help the city add some spots in at least two parks through California Proposition 68 grant applications for parks and recreation facilities.
