The Carroll County Legends advanced to the championship game of the 10-under Cal Ripken state baseball tournament in North Little Rock on the first weekend of July.
The Legends rallied to defeat Stuttgart 12-5 in their first game of the tournament, then shut out Bismarck 12-0 to move into bracket play. From there, the Legends beat Bismarck 12-3 to advance to the semifinals.
In the semis, the Legends rolled to a 15-0 victory over Lakewood, highlighted by a nine-run outburst in the first inning that included eight stolen bases.
In Sundays championship game against Arkadelphia, the Legends took a 2-0 lead on Hayden Campbells two-run double and still held a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth before Arkadelphia rallied to win 6-2.

As the newest member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Holly Mitchell completes the historical all-female Board of Supervisors.
For years, the members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors were known as “The Five Kings,” a title used to describe the powerful all-male Board of Supervisors, which remained that way until 1982 when Yvonne Brathwaite-Burke shattered the glass ceiling and became the first woman and the first African American to be elected to the Board of Supervisors.
