Q: Hello, Greg. I just read your article on nostalgia from the ’50s and ’60s and wanted to share an experience from about five years ago. My wife and I were taking my 1966 El Camino to the Devil s Run car show in North Dakota when the car started running terribly. It was very low on power and backfiring whenever we had to go up a small hill or anything that put a load on the engine.
We were on Highway 2 heading west and decided to pull into the little town of Michigan, North Dakota, where there sat this old-time gas station and we pulled in. I had a good guess what was wrong with the car and asked if I could borrow a set of feeler gauges as I was sure that my ignition points had closed up. The young man I talked to said to go ahead and take what I needed out of his toolbox.

Q: Greg, my love for older cars takes me back to my teen years when my daily driver was a 1958 Edsel Ranger Sedan which I used to date my future wife, whom I married in 1975. Since then, my wife and I have grown our antique ownership to six cars, plus our 1977 GMC Palm Beach Motorhome.
It s our motorhome I want to tell you about.
While attending a car show in Columbia, Pennsylvania, in 2017, I spotted a 1977 23-foot GMC Motorhome. The owner showed my wife and me the inside, and my wife immediately fell in love with it and wanted to get one. I started looking for one within our budget and we found one in Marshall, Michigan.

Q: Greg, I remember many years ago you wrote a column on the cars you ve owned in your lifetime. Can you give us an update as many years have gone by since then? Also, could you touch on today s awesome pony muscle cars like the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger? What s your opinion, do you have a favorite, do they have a future and which of the cars you owned do you miss the most? Glenn, Mays Landing, New Jersey
A: Glenn thanks for your question and I dug up my old columns to find that the column on the cars I owned appeared in May 2009. Let s start with the muscle car question, and then we ll touch on the updated cars I ve owned in my lifetime, including race cars this time too.
