Bolton brewery and Carrs pasties team up to make Pastie Barm ale

A BOLTON brewery and a popular bakery have teamed up to create a unique drink set to hit the bar this week. Northern Monkey, based in Nelson Square and Chorley Street, has teamed up with the Bolton-based bakery, Carrs Pasties, to brew their very own pale ale. The idea for the drink has come from Northern Monkey’s love of the famous pastie barm, which they believe is truly local to Bolton. Northern Monkey is ran by friends Ryan Bailey and Liam Convey, with this unique drop the latest collaboration over what has been a busy lockdown of brewing for the pair.

Amazing team effort sees thousands of hot dinners delivered across Bolton

Sushma Solanki of Sushma s Snacks THOUGHTFUL Bolton businesses clubbed together to donate around 3,300 hot lunches in the six weeks from January 25 to March 8. The hot meals were distributed to vulnerable people in the community by volunteers at the Bolton Lads and Girls Club. The food was donated by firms including Nutri Bar, Amico Cafe Bolton, Carrs Pasties, The Spread Eagle, and Sushma’snacks. Many other businesses also donated money for additional food purchases. Karen Edwards, CEO of Bolton Lads and Girls Club, said: “We are so grateful to all of those who continue to support our efforts in helping our young people and families at a time when they need it the most.

Carrs Pasties bestselling meat & potato pasty started out as a homecooked family treat but was swiftly added to the range at Joe and Nellie Carr’s general store in 1938, where it was sold alongside pies, crisps and tripe. Thanks to their popularity with local mill workers, the couple decided to focus on just pasties and by the late 1940s the business was rebranded.
