The Carroll County Health Department reported last week normal levels of E. Coli in Piney Run Creek in Hampstead after 100,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled in the stream last month.
The Carroll County Health Department is awaiting water test results from Piney Run Creek in Hampstead, following the spillage of 100,000 gallons of raw sewage there earlier this month.
Carroll County commissioners are proposing a 10% increase in water and sewer rates for fiscal 2024, in order to pay for aging water and sewer facilities and systems. This increase would be the first since 2019 for the county’s estimated 10,301 water customers and 10,595 sewer customers.
The county's Bureau of Roads Operations is prepared to treat county roads with 80 pieces of snow and ice equipment, a stockpile of 13,000 tons of salt and 31,000 gallons of liquid salt brine.
