The Beaumont School Board on Tuesday expanded charter school control in the district but postponed a discussion on renaming Memorial Stadium, a vague proposal that drew a vigorous backlash from parents and other community members as soon as word got out about it the night before.
The board has yet to say what name might be under consideration, or how likely the planned discussion was to lead to a decision. The matter was listed on the agenda with no elaboration.
