Members of the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad were training for cold-water and ice rescues on Green Lake in Spicer on Sunday afternoon when the hovercraft flipped as it was moving between water and ice. The three rescue squad members aboard the craft were not seriously injured and were wearing cold-weather suits at the time.

Samuel Lee Berends will serve five years of probation for a criminal sexual conduct conviction. He agreed to plead to a reduced charge. A prison sentence was stayed.
