1ke. as the covers of the trump transition turn critical, i sat down with one of his advisers and author of the new novel treegs about the plot. welcome. good to be with you. they seem stunned that he is tweeting about the boeing contract and jobs going to mexico and cyber bullying for tweeting of a local steelworker union o official that took him over the carrier deal. don t the media have a point that they re picking too many fights publicly? well, i think so but it seems to work for him. he is such a unique character that it s a little hard to second guess him because it just continuing to evolve in ways that you cannot quit imagine. i hear you saying that i would not do it but. i would probably not do it because i m more timid than him.
why you look at boeing as well with this new deal that you mentioned a moment ago, over $16 billion for planes going to iran. that would be separate obviously from taxpayer money and bidding and contract process donald trump says he will go over with fine-tooth comb. what has he also said? iran nuclear deal, opening door for major companies like boeing, big multibillion-dollar contracts with iran. the bottom line is, what i think you re seeing from boeing, for example, in the iran deal, they put out this statement saying today s agreement will support tens of thousand of u.s. jobs. why that is important. think about the carrier deal. these companies like boeing are looking at donald trump being very unpredictable. going at them on cost overruns. maybe going after boeing on separate issue selling planes to iran. they re saying hold on, mr. president-elect, this will mean u.s. jobs. critics say this is very
so that could be a deal he targets. the second time in a week because last week saying this sweet about boeing building a 747 saying they re building a new air force for future presidents but costs are out of control, cancel the order. boeing now in terms of this trade deal with iran is trying to lobby president-elect trump by putting out this statement. basically saying it will create about 100,000 u.s. jobs. think about the carrier deal that president-elect trump spent so much time on. who knew you could do so much on twitter. see you soon, my friend. will the trump bump continue to christmas and beyond. look at that.
the united states, he suggested the same thing that we ve heard coming from the trump ranks, which is their parent company does a lot of deals with the defense department, why not threaten to take away some of those contracts? listen, all i can say is, you can t blame any leader, whether president or governor, because governors do this all the time. or mayor, all the time. to try to get somebody to stay or grow in your that s your job. part of your job. good for him for trying to do it. bad for him lying about the number of jobs, but whatever it takes, put some buy america provisions. making phone calls is not a strategy. you can t call everybody on the phone. need a broader strategy, clearly. he needs to put forward what that is. you re giving him credit for this. giving him credit for trying something, sure. i think we ll see that as a result of the carrier deal. we ll see a more uniform policy dealing with corporations, but this is part of what he ran on, keepi
when there s no need necessarily to. and he won, but you see that now with the union issue. you know, a guy that is out there, you know, that trump just can t contain himself to not punch down at that guy and not focusing on some of the bigger, broader issues. so i think there s an ability to distract trump, you know, and have him go after sort of people who are smaller than him and now he s president of the united states. that guy, the union man did say in the washington post op-ed that trump was lying through his, rhymes with grass, about the numbers in the carrier deal. a, the numbers, but, b, is this free market economics, the president calling like a governor, calling up ceos. we ll add up the numbers and see what the impact is, but if you re the blue collar guy in a bar in a union hall, you re thinking great, great. one of the reasons i voted for trump and i m so mad at
