he s a commander and chief of the armed forces. that gives him authority of the men and women in uniform, but he s responsible for all of our policy, domestic and foreign. you want someone who s got critical judgment. that involves not only the issues, but the motives behind the people, so when you re at the white house, pinnacle power and the whole world, of course, everything s on the table. as we look at this in the context of where we were as a country then, we re a war weary nation, we re on a different policy perspective as foreign nations are looking at us and as we look at this specifically how robert gates talked about the obamas after a national security team meeting, this was from a few years ago, quote, i thought the president doesn t trust his commander, can t stand karzai, doesn t believe in his own strategy and doesn t consider this war his. then we have republicans, they are already jumping out in front of this. take a listen. 90-some young americans die
