Welcome to Noozhawk Asks, a new feature in which you ask the questions, you help decide what Noozhawk investigates, and you work with us to find the answers. Here’s how it works: You share your questions with us in the nearby box. In some cases, we may work with you to find the answers. In others, we may ask you to vote on your top choices to help us narrow the scope. And we’ll be regularly asking you for your feedback on a specific issue or topic. We also expect to work together with the reader who asked the winning questions to find the answer together. Noozhawk’s objective is to come at questions from a place of curiosity and openness, and we believe a transparent collaboration is the key to achieve it.

Plans to Rebuild Summerland Elementary School Get Boost with Approval of Temporary-Use Permit

Housing and Development Newsletter The approximately $6.2 million project is funded by Measure U, the $90 million general obligation bond passed by voters in the district in 2014, as well as other facilities funds,  according to the Measure U website. When the project is underway, Summerland Elementary students and staff will occupy four portable classrooms located on the southeastern side of the Main School campus and adjacent to the on-site parking lot. Plans call for the existing on-site parking lot to be temporarily closed and repurposed as an outdoor play area for the students. Students will be bused to and from the campus daily from Summerland Elementary to minimize traffic impacts in the surrounding neighborhood, and Summerland Elementary staff will have designated parking spots at Carpinteria Middle School on Palm Avenue.
