CARPINTERIA, Calif. - A community-based fund is coming to the rescue of small businesses in Carpinteria with allocations to offset impacts from the COVID-19 crisis.

KCLU s John Palminteri reports on the increase in food insecurity on the South Coast in conjunction with the limited stay-at-home orders.
With the limited stay-at-home order in the region disrupting everyday schedules, the need for food has increased - just like it did during the first part of coronavirus shutdowns.
Food distribution sites like the FoodBank of Santa Barbara County are said to be very busy again. There are quite a few families that say, hey, I was able to go back to work, but I don t get the same hours, I don t make the same amount of money, says Jaime Diamond, a trustee with the Carpinteria Unified School District Board.
