Luella Mae Draper Zerr
Our mother, Luella Mae Draper Zerr, born Feb. 27, 1933 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, died on Jan. 29 2021 of COVID-19 related complications. After a long hard battle to remain with her family, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Living in beautiful Santa Barbara, she was just shy of a very healthy 88 years old. A friend to anyone and everyone, Luella showed us that friendship can endure through distance, time and circumstance.
In 1954, as a single young woman, she braved the world and came out on a train to Renton, Washington, where she married Steven Zerr, a widower with two children, Gary and Kathleen, who were yearning for a mother. Luella and Steven remained forever devoted despite his death in 1996.
