Catalytic converter thefts continue to vex Bay Area motorists; police advise deterrents
Investigators say there s been a huge increase in catalytic converter thefts in San Leandro and regionally. Police advise vehicle owners to install aftermarket guards under their vehicles.
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. - San Leandro Police responded to two separate catalytic converter thefts Tuesday morning in a span of just two hours.

One theft took place on the 1100 block of Carpentier Street at the parking garage of an apartment building.
There s a notice posted by the management saying that the thieves may have gained access by following another car into the garage.
