Homeless Voices for Justice is calling attention to the challenges faced by unhoused people all year long. The group held its annual sit-out at Tommy's Park in Portland on Friday to coincide with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.
The state’s largest city has seen its unhoused population surge since the start of the pandemic. Voters can choose from three options to fix the problem by either building one large shelter or a series of smaller ones.
