A GP surgery has been so successful at administering Covid-19 vaccinations that Prince William picked up the phone to congratulate staff. Castlegate and Derwent Surgery in Cockermouth managed to vaccinate more than 90 per cent of over-80s and a significant number of over-70s, too. Care homes and staff were also successfully vaccinated by the surgery and it is now working its way through households of over-75s in the area. Dr Carolyn Rigg, of Castlegate and Derwent Surgery, said: “We’re thrilled to be recognised like that. I think it was a very positive phone call. “He thanked us for all our hard work and said he was very grateful to us for delivering a ‘monumental vaccination programme.
