Good News Outreach should tap into local faith communities and other volunteer sources to strengthen its program for men returning to society from prison.
That’s a key recommendation of a review of the Mercy House program, since the current budget can’t support the recommended addition of a full-time caseworker, two part-time aides and acquiring a vehicle to help the men in the program.
“This is a great ideal program. We will continue to work towards the ideal with help from volunteers,” Executive Director Donald Parks said.
Volunteers are needed to help with transportation, paperwork, using computers and other basic life skills.
