Chestnuts will be roasting at the Carson City Elks booth on Telegraph Street this Friday as thousands assemble to hear the Carson City School District Fifth Graders sing traditional carols on the steps of the capitol as part of the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights.

December 21 is the Silver Stage Food Pantry’s fifth annual “Shopping with the Elves” event. From 1-5 p.m., parents who are guests of the Food Pantry can shop for gifts for their children. The event includes a chance for children to visit with Santa and have holiday refreshments while their parents shop.
Hymns and Homebrew is a little bit church pot luck, a little bit pub-culture, and a little bit old fashioned hymn-sing. It s a chance to come as you are and experience traditional music of the church in a new context, and maybe recapture some of the joy of the original composers.
