Quebec is changing its vaccine strategy: public health officials are now recommending booster shots only for vulnerable people who have never had COVID-19.
MONTREAL - Only people who are considered at risk for severe COVID-19 and who haven't already been infected need to get a booster dose, Quebec's public health director said Thursday.
Seroprevalence surveys found that fewer than half of people older than 60 years had been exposed to the virus. The researchers suggest that this age group be prioritized for vaccination.
A large study that chronicles the trajectory of COVID-19 over the first 2-1/2 years of the pandemic suggests most British Columbia children and adults younger than age 60 developed antibodies to slash their risk of severe illness either through vaccination, infection or both.
