Pupils at Sharples High School soaked up a carnival atmosphere as they had fun in the sun. Attractions included funfair rides, a chocolate fountain, free ice creams and for some reason sponge the teacher proved popular with the pupils. The special treat was laid on for all pupils, who because of the pandemic have missed out on so much. Every year group had a chance to enjoy the fete in the safety of their bubbles. Caroline Molyneux, deputy headteacher, said: “It was a well-deserved treat for the pupils in what has been a difficult year. “They haven’t been able to go on school trips as they normally would so we wanted to put something special on for them as they have worked hard when they have been at home during lockdown.”
