“It’s really cute to watch them sit on the floor, compare their goodies, and exchange different things,” Benzel says. “It really brightens their day.” And now almost $100,000 has been raised to deliver kits in other states. Benzel, a third-year medical student, is delivering those kits to volunteers in states including California, Minnesota, and New Jersey.
Right now, the plan is to continue the kits through the pandemic. “It’s totally worth it, I would go without sleep to make sure that these kits go out because it’s I think it’s important to show our healthcare workers support,” Benzel says.
