CarolinaEast Health System is officially affiliated with UNC Health, the hospital announced today.
Representatives of both health systems were at the CarolinaEast Medical Center to give the announcement on Wednesday during a press conference.
CEHS CEO Ray Leggett stated that “Affiliating with UNC Health and working toward becoming a healthcare hub in this region is a tremendous opportunity for CarolinaEast and the people we serve. We look forward to working with UNC Health entities in Eastern North Carolina including Onslow, Wayne and Lenoir hospitals.”
He emphasized that the hospital would remain independent. “We did not sell CarolinaEast,” he said.
Under the terms of the arrangement, CarolinaEast remains a separate legal entity under the authority of its own Board of Directors.
