At One of Detroit s Oldest Art Institutions, A First -- An All-Black Group Exhibition

DuBois’ “Souls of Black Folk” from 1903 that focused on the dual identity of being Black and American. When the writer and philosopher W.E.B DuBois wrote “The Souls of Black Folk” in 1903, his observations of being Black in America were prophetic. His series of essays looked closely at the concept of dual identity being Black and being American.  Today, his words are the foundation of a new exhibit at the Scarab Club. It’s called “
