CONWAY â Despite limited ski area ticket sales and restrictions on restaurant seating due to the pandemic, Mount Washington Valley businesses still described the two February vacation weeks (President s Day vacation week, followed by New Hampshire vacation week) as busy with increased traffic, sales and bookings. The fact that regular snow falls kept local areas with great conditions for skiers and riders certainly didn t hurt.
Last year at this time, nervousness about the brand-new coronavirus was just beginning to flare. Yet the February vacation weeks were still strong.
Fast forward to 2021. Lodging members of the chamber weighed into the survey with mostly positive comments. In fact, Christopher Bellis, co-owner of the Cranmore Inn in North Conway, was featured in a story on WMUR-Channel 9 about what a strong vacation week the valley had.

A New York woman who lost her job is using some of her free time to help feed thousands of people in her community.
Sofia Moncayo leads a group of volunteers who give out food to those in need in a neighborhood in Queens. On a recent rainy day, a large crowd lined up outside the Mosaic West Queens Church to receive free food.
During the pandemic, Sofia Moncayo has led a food distribution program through Mosaic West Queens Church. She was furloughed from her job in June and remains unemployed. But she has continued to lead fundraisers and coordinate volunteers.
