A community food drive spearheaded by local real estate agent Sharon Anderson, collected 8,400 pounds of food for 200 local military families .
This is the third year Anderson has run the food drive and this year she asked her entire office of realtors at Keller Williams Realty Carmel Valley/Del Mar to participate. Thousands of food donation bags were distributed in the community. “The response was overwhelming. People were especially generous this year,” Anderson said.
Volunteers loaded 400 bags of groceries that were given to STEP, aka Support The Enlisted Project, a San Diego-based nonprofit that helps local junior enlisted military and recent veterans to build financial self-sufficiency.
