Cheshire, School Officials Squabble Over School Building Lease

CHESHIRE, Mass. The town will update its lease agreement with the Hoosac Valley Regional School District for the use of Cheshire School. The town and school district agreed to collaborate on updating the lease agreement Tuesday and after an, at times, contentious discussion the Board of Selectmen agreed to allow the district to continue using the library space in the interim while the inconsistent lease is sorted out. I think if we just add and subtract some things, Selectman Mark Biagini said. I think we just have to clean it up, and I don t think we have to draw up a whole new contract.

Cheshire Town Admininistrator Ed St John IV resigns

CHESHIRE â After two years on the job, Town Administrator Ed St. John IV unexpectedly has resigned from his position, effective Friday. St. John submitted his letter of resignation Thursday night to board Chairwoman Michelle Francesconi, who, in turn, notified the other four board members and municipal department heads. St. John, a longtime defense attorney, said he no longer could be a part-time town administrator and a full-time lawyer at the same time. âHaving two separate careers running parallel wasnât working, and I donât want to shortchange either one,â he told The Eagle. âI want to devote as much time to my caseload as possible, and I also want the town to move forward efficiently.â
