Angus roads crews have faced a new battle with the elements after a fresh overnight snowfall. Council chiefs said conditions across the area remain tricky and they have repeated their message for people to stay at home if they can. The overnight snowfalls saw the B978 Wellbank to Draffin road reduced to one lane around the Luckyslap area in the early hours. Drifting snow also affected the B9128 Forfar to Carnoustie road between Draffin and Crombie crossroads.

Angus drivers warned of treacherous conditions as snow closes Isla Primary and hits school bus services

Angus Council said Isla and Strathmartine primaries will remain shut on Monday as the winter weather increased its grip on the area. School bus services to Webster’s High in Kirriemuir, Monifieth High, Arbroath Academy, Carnoustie High, Murroes primary and Newtyle nursery have also been affected. Angus Police described roads across the county as “treacherous”. They said: “It looks like the snow has finally reached the lower levels as most of us will be waking up to a liberal dusting this morning.
