WHEATFIELD â Kankakee Valley capped its regular season by winning three of its last four games, including a 4-2 win over Hebron and a 9-0 loss to Class 2A No. 2 Pioneer last week.
Against Hebron, the Kougars (13-10) snapped a 2-2 tie with two runs in the top of the seven inning to edge the host Hawks, who fall to 17-9. KVHS outhit Hebron, 8-3, with Carly Baseman going 3 for 4 with a double.
MaryKate Shultz, Hayley Alexander, Mady Peterson, Carmen Rosado and Elyse Starr all had singles.
Meadow Fornuto had a double for the Hawks and Molly Friel and Brooke Cunningham added singles.

WHEATFIELD â Kankakee Valleyâs softball team played three games in under 24 hours last weekend, winning two while dropping one as it participated in the annual Twin Lakes Invitational.
On Friday, May 7, the Kats were on the wrong end of a walk-off single to fall to Class 3A No. 9 Northwestern High School. KV racked up 13 hits and Northwestern notched 14 in the high-scoring affair as the Tigers (17-2) won 10-8 when Northwesternâs Jaci Elson singled on a 0-1 count to score two of her teammates.
KV (11-7) jumped to an early lead, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings while holding the Tigers scoreless.

LOWELL â Kankakee Valley remained in the hunt for a Northwest Crossroads Conference softball title by handing host Lowell a 3-1 loss on Monday, April 26.
The Kougars improve to 4-1 in league play and 8-4 overall. It was their third straight win.
KV gave ace pitcher MaryKate Shultz all the offense she would need with two runs in the first inning. The Kougars added a single run in the third and turned the game over to Shultz, who scattered five hits over seven innings with 16 strikeouts and two walks.
Lowellâs run was unearned.
Shultz also helped her cause by going 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Carly Basham had an RBI single and JoJo Short had a two-run double in the first inning.
