Sallins bus stop must be more accessible

Action is needed to make a bus stop in Sallins more accessible.
Cllr Carmel Kelly has asked Kildare County Council what can be done to make it easier to use for people living across the road in Osberstown, White City, The Sidings and Oldbridge.
According to KCC official Pamela Pender the site will be assessed along with proposals which will form part of a traffic management plan for the town “with a view to identifying measures (to improve) accessibility.”

A section of busy Newbridge road in Naas will be reinstated, Kildare County Council has promised.
This follows a request from Cllr Bill Clear who claimed that the road has not been properly repaired following significant work carried out there by Irish Water.
Cllr Carmel Kelly also wanted to know when IW would be asked to reinstate the road as well as at the Chadwick s junction.
Councillors were told at a Naas Municipal District meeting that following the works, the road was temporarily reinstated to allow for any settlement before the permanent. reinstatement can begin.
Cllr makes call to create pedestrian walking routes in Naas

A move to create some pedestrian-only walking routes in Naas may be incorporated in the town’s development plan.
Cllr Seamie Moore wants established walking areas such as the old railway line to be made walking only areas.
He also said that the , the lakes area “and maybe others” should also preserved as pedestrian only areas.
He told a recent Naas Municipal District meeting that people with disabilities and medical vulnerabilities as well as parents with young children should be able to enjoy these areas “while not having to cope with ‘multi directional propelled transport systems’ like bikes and scooters”.
Work on the implementation of the long awaited traffic management measures and facilities for cyclists will start in Sallins later this year. The work will also.
Naas street cleaning and bins collection up for review

Bin collections and street cleaning in Naas are to be reviewed.
This follows a call for action to ensure that bins are emptied more frequently and the streets are cleaned more regularly, at a Naas Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Bill Clear said there was a significant amount of overfull bins at amenity areas in the town like the lakes at Ballymore Road, the Grand Canal and Monread Park.
He said that most of the litter in Naas is around the bins rather than in areas between where the bins are provided.
