The AFL Women’s season for 2021 kicks off on January 28th with a 7 pm AEDT match between Carlton and Collingwood at Ikon Park, Victoria. AFLW has seen an incredible boom in success of late, with the ABC reporting that it’s grown by a whopping 331 per cent over the last five years. That trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down either, with Sunday’s match between The Lions and Richmond Tigers selling out tickets completely.

AFLW and COVID Can they play together?

Imagine, you step onto the field, your debut year as a team in the league, and your debut in your dream team as an elite sports player. Your time to shine arises and at the opportune time, you manage to find yourself in the right position, at the right time, with the right skills, to intercept a mark and line up for your very first goal at AFLW level. You take your time and follow your routine, you’ve done this before, just never at the highest level, don’t let the nerves throw you off now. A big breath in, you line up, run through, and kicking the ball, bang! Score your first goal!

Fixture winners and losers: See who your club plays twice

The Cats not only get to return to their fortress at GMHBA Stadium, but play three straight home games to finish the season - against the Giants, St Kilda and Melbourne. Geelong will also host Essendon on its own dunghill for the first time in 28 years. The Cats have nine games at GMHBA and six at the MCG. They leave the state just five times, including a clash in Hobart against North Melbourne. Geelong plays North twice, as do the Bulldogs. The Blues leave Melbourne once for the first 10 rounds - a trip to the Gold Coast - and only five interstate games, including two in Sydney and one in Adelaide.
