WORCESTER It wasn’t long ago that Sheena Cossette would wrestle with her prayers for a miracle knowing that if one came, it would mean someone else’s prayers had gone unanswered.
“I hate to say this, but the only way for my son to live was if somebody else passed. So I felt guilty for even praying for that. I’m not saying, ‘Hey, God, I hope someone dies’,” Cossette said. “I was praying for a heart, actively, but I knew where it came from and that was my biggest struggle.
In Florida, Cossette would later learn, a young mother was praying, too. She was hoping that her 6-year-old son might recover from the car crash that left him with a serious brain injury but doctors told her it was not to be.
