Arias is a little junior third baseman at a mid-major program who is slugging .290. Nobody is going to print a magnet with his name on it come July. My question is why does he have so many enemies? With two more hit by pitches over the weekend, Arias has now been hit 16 times in 21 games. That’s nearly once every six plate appearances, which was his exact rate last year, when he got hit 12 times in 15 games. Arias is a pesky slap hitter who c

My mistake wasn’t the choice of José Abreu at No. 1 for the White Sox. That pick remains. But I left off Dick Allen’s highly impressive 1972 season when listing other worthy candidates for that honor. That issue will be rectified, as the Top 5 are now listed below.
The player’s season in this category is judged by the actual first pitch thrown or first swing taken with the White Sox. So while Ron Kittle had a power-packed Rookie of the Year campaign in 1983, he already had 32 plate appearances in ‘82. The same goes for left-handed pitcher Gary Peters, who won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in ’63 but made 12 appearances combined over the previous four years.

Baseball America first began publishing their team Top 30 prospects in the late 1980’s. After several years of trial and error and building enough industry sources to combine them all they began putting together their Top 100 in 1990.
When the Dbacks and Rays began participating in the Rule IV amateur draft in 1996 their picks and international signees became eligible parts of the process.
Since celebrating the 25th anniversary list in 2015 several people have published their own versions of all time top 30 lists for various teams and this is my attempt here.
