On Monday (29th), changes within the Jair Bolsonaro administration caused repercussions in Brazil’s political sphere. Throughout the day, the ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Ernesto Araújo and Fernando Azevedo and Silva, respectively, left their posts.

The Air Force Command signed on Wednesday (30) a confidential contract with the Finnish company Iceye for the purchase of a terrestrial observation satellite valued at R $ 175 million. The contract was signed with exemption from bidding authorized by the Air Force commander, air brigadier Carlos Moretti Bermudez, alleging “national security”.
Iceye satellites use SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) technology to monitor the ground. Simply put, they use radio pulses that allow them to observe the ground even on cloudy days, which is not possible with an optical satellite, which uses cameras to photograph the observed region.
