A campaign to see everyone in the UK with a disability vaccinated as a priority is being backed by Carlisle Mencap and its national parent charity. The call from Mencap has been prompted by the information that people with a learning disability are more than six times as likely to die of Covid-19 as the general population. Many though are not in any of the top priority Covid-19 vaccination groups. More than 5,000 people have already emailed their MP about the need to vaccinate disabled people as a priority and the Government is beginning to take notice but Carlisle Mencap is urging the public to join the cause.
