Shares0 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake junior Carlie Rzeszotarski has added to her impressive list of accomplishments on the volleyball court. Rzeszotarski has been named the 2020-21 Gatorade New York Volleyball Player of the Year, Gatorade announced this week. The 6-foot-1 outside hitter and Colgate commit is the third Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake player to receive the honor as New York’s top girls’ volleyball player, joining Sarah Morton (2005-06) and Erin Little (2007-08). With the honor, Rzeszotarski becomes a finalist for the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award, which will be announced later this month.

Instead, the Spartans waltzed their way to a perfect season, a feat they capped with a three-set win over Shenendehowa in the Suburban Council championship Friday night. The Spartans (20-0) dismissed the Plainsmen 25-13, 25-20, 25-12 with Suburban Council MVP Carlie Rzeszotarski serving for the championship point after scoring the winning point with an overhead slam at the net in the match’s second game.
