Monroe s first American Legion Post #60 Golden Harvest Festival took place in 1919. Wood Field is where where Noble and Hollywood are today.

100 Years Ago in the Monroe Evening News, April 1921 The Monroe News Legislators are still turning in more proposed measures LANSING The 400th bill was recently introduced in the house and more are coming in at every session. Apparently, there is no chance the flow of new bills will be cut off until the final days of the session. Monroe boys are invited to camp Boys from Monroe city and county are again invited to take the course in military-physical training to be given this summer at Camp Roosevelt near Muskegon under command of Capt. F.L. Beals. Word to that effect has been received by Superintendent of Schools Dean Spencer.
