It is the center that gathers together a bunch of different faculties from across the campus and also different departments that work on religion and collect in one place. And produce a set of programs that are public that people can come to on all sorts of different topics and religions spanning from the very beginning of recorded history until the present time. Berkeley is a place that has always had a tremendous range of different kinds of scholars. And has never had a collection point for bringing energies together. The berkeley study of religion is that.
