Henkel s House of Books carries on teacher s tradition of learning
In so many years of teaching, Linda Henkel has accumulated and continues to accumulate books to keep the little box full. Unlike other little lending libraries, she doesn t want them back. PINE RIVER, Minn. Linda Henkel may have just retired from the Pine River-Backus School District after 47 years, but she s not done helping kids learn to read yet.

Pine River-Backus teacher Linda Henkel has been teaching long enough that she s earned recognition, including the PR-B Teacher of the Year honor three times now.
The most recent honor came just this month.
After teaching for 47 years with the district, Henkel has taught many students. She s now getting children of former students.
