According to Carl Shelton, an executive chef at J Vineyards and Winery in Sonoma County, California, wine adds acid to your dish and enhances the flavors on your palate. He adds, “when wine is reduced, the sweetness will create richness in a sauce or a braise, adding more complexity and depth to the dish.”

A 20-year-old Tekoa man has been sentenced for raping a child.
The case began in late August when the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a child rape report in Tekoa. Carl Shelton admitted to the deputy that he raped an underage girl and was arrested for 2nd degree child rape.
Shelton pleaded guilty as charged to felony 2nd degree child rape in Whitman County Superior Court. Judge Gary Libey sentenced Shelton to 6 months in jail on Friday. He also received between 8 and a half years to life in prison as part of a Special Sex Offender Sentencing Alternative. If Shelton successfully completes between 3 and 5 years of sex offender treatment after he is released from jail then he will be on felony probation for life. He is also required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. If Shelton fails to complete treatment or if he violates probation, he could receive life in prison.
