And it is clear why officials were saying in the last 12 hours or so that his condition was rapidly deteriorating. We know that just last month he called the police in newport, rhode island, where he was working at a contractor up there. He told them he had checked into a hotel after being in two other hotels and moving around because he said he kept hearing voices coming out of the walls or the ceilings or the closet in these rooms. And he was trying to get away from the voices. He thought they were people that were following him. He worried that the voices were people that would cause him harm. He said somebody was using what he called a microwave machine against him to send vibrations that were disturbing his sleep.
