Cumbria Police is reaching out to rural communities, following a number of thefts across the county. In April, six quad bikes were reported stolen in West Cumbria – an increase on March, which saw two stolen. There were also seven high-value plant and machinery thefts in, April which was a decrease from the previous month, with 12. Officers believe that people who live and work in Cumbria s rural communities hold the key to disrupting and helping police apprehend offenders. In recent weeks, the constabulary has seen a Honda quad bike taken from Purdy Road, Workington, on April 7; the attempted theft of a quad bike from Mosedale on may 5, after which a 31-year-old Maryport man was arrested and released under investigation; and a quad bike stolen from the Glenridding area overnight on May 9-10.
