The Lycoming County Planning Commission gave approval with conditions for a land development plan by LBM Properties in Muncy Township
Plans call for building an addition onto the north side of the former Gander Mountain building near the Lycoming Mall to accommodate office space and an entrance for a light manufacturing facility, according to Joshua Billings, county subdivision and land development administrator.
The county zoning hearing board had granted special exception for light manufacturing use in October.
In other matters, the Commission approving rehiring Michael Wiley as solicitor.
Wiley has served in that capacity for the past several years.
Reighard replaces Carl Nolan who was elected secretary.
The board also elected Brett Taylor as vice chairman. He previously served as secretary.
In other matters, it was agreed to begin the search for a replacement for Michael Sherman who has resigned from the board.
The person appointed to fill the vacancy will serve out the remainder of Sherman’s term set to expire at the end of the year.
Planning Commission Executive Director Shannon Rossman announced that Alyssa Henry is resigning her job as hazard reduction planner to take a job with the state Department of Environmental Protection.
“We will be sorry to lose her,” Rossman said.
Lycoming County Commissioner Rick Mirabito is pushing to make more COVID-19 testing available locally.
At Tuesday’s commissioners’ meeting he called for passing a resolution early next year for funding the tests, encouraging people to wear masks while in public and putting in to practice social distancing.
“I think we as a county need to step up our game,” he said.
He noted a recent report revealing Williamsport with the nineteenth highest COVID-19 infection rate in the nation.
He said it might be prudent to consider having county residents who travel outside the county to be tested when they return.
