Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker. says an 18-year-old Salem State University student has been fatally shot in Salem. Salem police said they received a 911 call at about 1:24 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a shooting and found Carl Hens Beliard inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence. Investigators said there also does not appear to be any ongoing threat to the Salem State University community.
