Roughly 75 volunteers are gathering at the Fort Scott National Historic Site to participate in its spring Civil War encampment. Attendees were able to see things like what a Civil War camp might have looked like and see weapons and calvary demonstrations.
Some dipped a toe in, shivering before cautiously, slowly walking into the freezing waters of Lake Pend Oreille.
Others ran charging down the sands of City Beach into the water before diving into the chilly lake to the applause of the large crowd gathered to watch.
