Coronavirus Vaccine Coming To West Wight In Next Few Days
By Oliver Dyer
Coronavirus vaccinations will start to be rolled out to the West Wight in the next few days , according to the Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
The first COVID-19 vaccines were administered on the Isle of Wight this week. 89-year-old Kenneth Killeen was the first person on the Island to receive one at Carisbrooke Health Centre.
Dr Michele Legg, GP and clinical chair of NHS Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
THE West Wight is to get Covid vaccines from Friday. The news comes as the Island took receipt of its first Covid vaccines today at Carisbrooke Health Centre. An email has gone out to volunteers of the West Wight Coronavirus Help Hub, based at West Wight Sports and Community Centre (WWSCC), confirming when the jabs are arriving. The hub is asking for volunteers to help over Friday, Saturday and Sunday as it expects to be busy. The community room at WWSCC will become a Covid vaccination centre and volunteer marshals are needed to help greet and prepare people. Anyone who can help should email help@westwight.org.uk or leave a message on 752168
