NASSAU, BAHAMAS With Royal Caribbean International’s Adventure of the Seas on target to set sail June 12 on its historic inaugural Nassau homeporting voyage, the company’s vice president today predicted a boon to a variety of local businesses in Nassau and on Grand Bahama.
Russell Benford, the Royal Caribbean Group vice president responsible for government relations in the Americas, said: “We at Royal Caribbean are excited about this next step in our journey not just because we will be able to sail again in The Bahamas, which remains our number one destination, but because of the opportunities that homeporting unfolds for so many Bahamian businesses and attractions, including our many Bahamian partners.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS Three years after Royal Caribbean International’s president and CEO first saw the impact of a feeding program operating out of a crowded cottage in Nassau and vowed to lend support, the cruise line this week delivered its most generous gift yet nearly $1.5 million of food weighing 675,000 pounds, enough to provide over two million meals.

Royal Caribbean will restart cruises this summer from The Bahamas, and is working on making getting to and from Nassau easier.
Flights to Nassau are not necessarily as plentiful as some would like, and Royal Caribbean is working to secure bulk rate sales of seats for cruise passengers.
The Nassau Guardian Business is reporting Bahamasair Chairman Tommy Turnquest confirmed his airline and Royal Caribbean are working together. I can tell you that Bahamasair is working with Royal Caribbean on Saturday flights. We’re going to have two flights out of Miami, one flight out of Fort Lauderdale and one flight out of Orlando to coincide with when the ship will arrive at 7 o’clock on a Saturday morning and leave 9 o’clock that night.
