Caribbean Cement reports 13% increase in revenue 03 March 2021 Jamaica s Caribbean Cement Co has reported a 13 per cent YoY increase in revenue to JMD20.1bn (US$132.94m) in 2020. The rise in revenue has been attributed to stronger domestic demand. The company also saw earnings before taxation of JMD4.4bn, up JMD2.7bn on that achieved in 2019. We continue to operate in an environment of significant uncertainty. Our strategy will focus to effectively manage the variables under our control, providing to our customers an excellent service and high-quality products. We will leverage the benefits of our recent plant modernisation programme that gave us record results in production in 2020, said the company.

Several stocks record double-digit gains on Monday

A number of stocks made double-digit gains during Monday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. The top gaining stocks were loss-makers as investors continue to move up these thinly traded stocks by adding higher than usual volumes. These include GWest Corporation which gained 21 per cent to $0.91, Everything Fresh which gained 20 per cent to $1.22, SSL Venture Capital up 18 per cent to $0.67.  Profitable companies which made strong gains included Portland JSX up 18 per cent to $8.50, Indies Pharma up 13 per cent to $3.36, Key Insurance up 12 per cent to $4.74, Caribbean Cement which gained 12 per cent to $71, AMG Packaging and Paper which gained 10 per cent to $1.80, and GraceKennedy which gained 9.7 per cent to $90.
