Treatment would be free of cost, while patients would bear charges for medicines, tests and self-arranged ambulances. COV-AID@BLR, a 150-bed oxygenated Covid-19 treatment centre at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB/ BLR Airport), has been operationalised.
Located near the Cargo Terminals of BLR Airport, COV-AID@BLR is open for the public and employees from the BLR Airport ecosystem. The centre is equipped with a pharmacy, pathology unit, nurses’ station, restrooms, dining area and drinking water facilities. An ambulance would be on standby 24x7 to cater to emergencies.

The new facility would be operational from May 18. Fairfax Financial Holdings Group, to bolster the healthcare infrastructure, which has come under pressure due to the second wave of Covid-19 in Bengaluru, has committed $5 million to set up COV-AID@BLR, a 150-bed, oxygenated Covid-19 treatment centre at Bengaluru Airport (BLR Airport).
The facility would be operational on May 18, and the initiative is funded by Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, through its subsidiary Fairfax India Holdings Corporation. The Canada-based group has committed $5 million (₹37 crore) to provide Covid-19 relief in India.

Fairfax Financial Holdings Group has provided the funding to set up COV-AID@BLR, a 150-bed, oxygenated COVID-19 treatment centre at BLR Airport. The facility would be operational on May 18, 2021.
The Fairfax-led initiative, in partnership with GiveIndia, is part-funded by Kempegowda International Airport Foundation (KIAF) – the foundation of Bangalore International Airport Limited. The initiative will be managed by Fairfax Financial Holdings Group s investee companies – KIAF and Quess Corp Limited.

NEW DELHI: Emerging as India’s biggest entry point for urgent Covid aid from abroad, Delhi’s IGI Airport has seen 25 relief flights bringing in 300 tonnes of cargo in just five days between April 28 and May 2. The aid has flown in from countries like US, UK, UAE, Thailand, Germany, Qatar and Hong Kong.
“Most of the relief flights were supported by Air Force aircrafts which included IL76, C-130, C-5, C-17. These flights brought in over 5,500 oxygen concentrators; about 3,200 oxygen cylinders, 9.3 lakh masks and 1.4 lakh Remdesivir injections which are required in view of huge surge in Covid-19 cases in the country,” Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said in a statement.
