A number of key journeys where rail could improve connectivity have been identified in a new study, published by England’s Economic Heartland (EEH) in collaboration with Network Rail.
The report –
Passenger Rail Study Phase Two – identifies the rail improvements that will boost the region’s economy.
Overall, it identifies 36 regional and long-distance journeys where rail is best placed to improve connectivity. It details at a high level how this could be achieved and provides the basis for the long-term rail investment plan for the Heartland.
The journeys are divided into three sections, according to the level of change each would require (see table).
